On May 13th, 2015, Professor Xu Duoqi from KoGuan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, also the executive director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Financial Law&Policy Research Centre, was invited to SHUFE Finance&Law Forum. She gave us a fantastic speech on “P2P’s legal risk and its supervision” at room 211 of the No.2 Teaching Building. This lecture was hosted by Professor Song Xiaoyan from Law School of SHUFE.
Professor Xu Duoqi analyzed the situation of P2P business’s domestic operation mode, practice mode, legal risk, focus issues and other countries’ relevant circumstances like Britain and the USA. She figured out that many P2P platforms’ legal status in China’s P2P business is not widely accepted yet and effective supervisory measures which aims at the most common phenomenon in practice, “capital pool”, are not enough. What’s more, until now China has almost no supervision on P2P business. Relevant laws and regulations should be issued as soon as possible and the rights and duties of legal operation department need to be clarified. The lecture attracted people in and around our school. The community including teachers and students from SHUFE exchanged ideas about the legal issues in P2P business with Professor Xu Duoqi. The whole lecture ended in heated discussion.
