On December 5th, 2014, Professor Wang Xuqi, who was Vice Principle of Soochow University and Dean of its WTO Center, attended the symposium entitled “Avant-garde problems of science of Law”. Professor Hu Lin presided over the lecture.
First of all, Professor Wang analyzed the effects of the closing of American quantitative easing policy had on the developed and developing countries. She thought that the end of the quantitative easing policy is a dangerous moment to the emerging market. Bulk commodity price has lapsed into continuous downturn which lagged the economy of the export countries. Still, many assets prices and debts of the developing countries keep at a high standard. Therefore, the underlying possibility may cause political instability. Next, Professor Wang introduced that in the context of many Chinese enterprises marching into the Europe, International Monetary Fund (hereinafter referred as IMF) and the World Bank (hereinafter referred as WB) expected that China will become the biggest economic unit in the world this year. However, Professor Wang thought in respect of finance, science and technology, military power, education and the global effect, America will still stay in the dominant-hegemonic position for a long time. Last but not least, he introduced the regulatory measures took by G20 in the context of market failure to maintain its stability after the financial tsunami. He also generally described the relative background and policy of IMF and the WB. To strengthen the understanding of the topic, he even recommended several representative short financial films as learning references.
In the Q&A session, everyone showed interests in the topics of the night and Professor Wang answered in details the questions about Taiwan's deposit insurance system. She pointed out that Taiwan's deposit insurance is compulsory, mainly including dealing with deposit insurance business; helping the insured institutions with their business operations; checking the insured institutions with their business and accounts; handling liquidation and cleaning up work of the terminated institutions.
Professor Wang introduced in details the development status of international economy with
rich political data and vivid illustrations . His speech gave students a general picture of the world economic status and the relative financial policies of Taiwan. At last, Professor Wang sincerely invited teachers and students in SHUFE Law School to study in Soochow University (Taiwan) and communicate with students there which gained positive responses of the students.
