On October 17, 2014, Professor Yu Jinsong, one of the founders and leaders of International Financial Law, from People’s University of China delivered a lecture on The Development of International Investment Treaties and Challenges for China for the teachers and students in SHUFE Law School. The lecture was hosted by Professor Song Xiaoyan of SHUFE Law School.
The lecture consisted of three parts, namely, the international investment relationship pattern, the effects of RTA & FTA on investment relationships and problems faced by China. Professor Yu mentioned some hot issues about BIT negotiations between China and US. He said that how to realize investment liberalization is one of the challenges we need to handle. Besides, he emphasized that the Negative List Management Approach carried out in Shanghai Free Trade Zone (SHFTZ) will bring us some useful experiments. What’s more, Professor Yu specified perfect investment protection rules and the dispute settlement mechanism which were attached a great importance by Chinese government.
After the lecture, Professor Yu and students had a hot discussion.
