“How to Apply Law School in United States?” Professor Hong Yan, the Assistant Director of Research in Insurance and Financial Services from Law School of University of Connecticut gave SHUFE Law students a vivid speech for recruitment of University of Connecticut on 4th December, 2013. Professor Ma Hong, the Vice Dean of SHUFE Law, hosted the session.
Before the beginning of the speech, many students surrounded and asked Hong about the details of master and doctor programs in University of Connecticut. Professor Hong gave out her answer to each student patiently. Then the speech started with the information of Law degrees, including JD (Juris Doctor), LL.M (Master of Law) and SJD (Doctor of Juridical Science) in University of Connecticut. There are two LL.M programs, one is the U.S. Legal Studies and the other is Insurance Law which ranks the best in United States. She introduced the strength of University of Connecticut and the reason why Insurance Law is the most competitive program in United States. They also have legal programs with certificate on Human Rights, Financial Services, Tax, Energy and Environment etc. Small classes, opportunities of communicating with professors and American students, high quality education and low tuition, as well as beautiful campus are also important factors that students should consider. She introduced each program courses and the employment status after graduation. Last but not the least, she introduced the application and materials that students should prepare. Conveniently, all these information can be searched on their official website and Professor encouraged students to explore more information on it.
At last, Hong said, their Law School received a SHUFE Law student in LL.M program last year and he finished the program with an excellent grade and transferred to the JD without LSAT successfully. This student impressed her a lot and she believed that most of SHUFE Law students are in first class in China and can have a try to apply their program. Our Vice Dean Professor Ma Hong expressed a warmly welcome to Professor Hong.
