On Nov.10th, 2013, there was a special activity held in Jessup Club—a lecture about body language given by Miss Huang, a well-known artist and teacher of Shanghai Theater Academy.

"Why do you choose body language?" a simple question was pointed out in the beginning of the lecture. "We are human beings. The body given by the god is not only used for eating or sleeping. Running around and too much work have benumbed people’s body and feeling which connected with nature. We need to wake it up." Miss Huang said pleasantly.

Three interesting practices followed the opening comments. The first one required two person’s corporation to finish a series of actions with body touch. Most students were too shy and they finished it carefully at the first time. But after Huang`s encouragement, it reminded participants to calm down and feel the touch. Everyone eliminated directions to try it again and they seemed to be full of passion and energy. What`s more, everyone could get its own understanding of these actions magically! "More purely you move, the better the result is." Huang nodded, "You shall never preinstall too much, and remember, give space for audience to involve you, and then you can interact well with each other, even in court."

The second one was a team work to play a tree in a full natural year, which aimed to wake up the lower parts of our bodies. People should liberate their lower parts, like legs, to use the whole body rather than faces or arms only to complete each move. And the last one was a series of performances of confidence, self-basement, happiness and pain. That was an involvement training to teach students to entry the role more than play the role.

The lecture continued for almost two hours but everyone wanted to learn more. As Huang said, the performance was not a debate but connected with ethology and people`s behaviors closely. Using your body smartly would make you more forceful. So wake up your body. It will bring you unexpected effects!
